Content marketing is a strategic marketing approach focused on creating and distributing valuable, relevant and consistent content to attract and retain a clearly-defined audience – and ultimately, to drive profitable customer action. The key reasons for using content marketing is for increased sales, better customers who have more loyalty, and that it is definitely cost saving.
If you spend too much time trying to get content “just right”, you can lose the very thing that makes it interesting – your authenticity. Do not stress about creating that that ideal piece of content and write what your instincts tell you to write, what is in your heart and not what you think suits your brand image and what’s trending.
Do take note that in content marketing, perfection is unattainable. Perfecting your content is unhealthy and you are setting yourself up for failure. Creating the best content ever is not a tangible goal. For example, do not tell your content team to create “viral” or shareable content; tell them you want something that is thought-provoking, controversial, amusing or surprising. You should look at what is working for you. Stop comparing your content because there is no guarantee that what works for others will work for you. Also, try to do what your customers love. Use short surveys so that customers can tell you the information they think is missing from your site. Encourage conversation is blog comments or social media.
